From June 30 to July 3, 2014, two of the most prestigious international conferences in the field of Multibody Dynamics, the 3rd Joint International Conference on Multibody System Dynamics (IMSD 2014) and the 7th Asian Conference on Multibody Dynamics (ACMD 2014), will be held as a joint event at BEXCO in Busan, Korea. These two biannual conferences have been held normally in Europe and Asia respectively. It is a very unique occasion and a truly global event of Multibody Dynamics society for the two conferences to meet in one place.

The IMSD conference series offers the international multibody community an opportunity to meet and exchange advanced topical information on the theories and the applications of multibody systems. The first IMSD had been successfully held in Lappeenranta, Finland in spring 2010, followed by the 2nd IMSD in Stuttgart, Germany in spring 2012. IMSD 2014 in Busan, Korea is the third in the series.

ACMD has been hosted by countries in Asia in turn. It had been successfully held in Iwaki, Japan in summer of 2002, in Seoul, Korea in summer of 2004, in Tokyo, Japan in summer of 2006, in Jeju, Korea in summer 2008, in Kyoto, Japan in summer 2010 and in Shanghai, China also in summer of 2012. ACMD 2014 that will be held in Busan, Korea is the 7th conference of ACMD.

As one of the rapidly growing branches of mechanical engineering, the multibody system dynamics is applied to various applications, and is becoming increasingly important in the development of complex engineering systems. The continual new challenges faced by the multibody community demand productive conference forums where ideas are freely exchanged and a spirit of cooperation is encouraged.

IMSD 2014 and ACMD 2014 aim to bring together researchers in mulitbody dynamics from both academia and industry and to promote opportunities to exchange cutting-edge information about theory and application of mulitbody dynamic systems. Furthermore, this joint collaboration of IMSD 2014 and ACMD 2014 is expected to present a unique opportunity to identify the current challenges, to share solutions, and to promote friendships between the two multibody dynamics communities.
